摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress adhesion of condensed water generated in exhaust emission after stopping an internal combustion engine to an exhaust emission control catalyst and to suppress impediment of earlier catalytic activity on starting the internal combustion engine, in an exhaust emission control system of the internal combustion engine provided with the exhaust emission control catalyst. SOLUTION: After stopping the internal combustion engine, this exhaust emission control system provides temperature difference to remaining exhaust emission in an exhaust emission circulation route (a downstream side connection part LJ - a communication passage 4 (a water absorbent 5)- an upstream side connection part UJ - the catalyst 3- the downstream side connection part LJ) by heating the remaining exhaust emission near the downstream side connection part LJ. Then, a circulating current in the exhaust emission circulation route is generated by a convection current of the remaining exhaust emission and water vapor in the remaining exhaust emission is absorbed by the water absorbent before condensate is generated as the temperature of the remaining exhaust emission lowers.
