PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus adopting a noncontact AC roller charging system which ensures high speed, excellent charge uniformity and charge controllability, the image forming apparatus achieving higher image quality by suppressing the occurrence of filming which is a problem heretofore. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, a charging means 20 charges an image bearing member 10 by noncontact AC charging, the AC has an AC frequency of 6.5-8.5 cycle/mm, a linear velocity of the image bearing member is ≥300 mm/s, a cleaning means has a blade-like cleaning member, and a toner used for image formation is a toner produced by aqueous granulation and has an external additive on at least a surface thereof. This external additive has a BET specific surface area of 20-35 m<SP>2</SP>/g, a water content of ≤1% and a bulk density of ≤200 g/l. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
