BUTTERFLY VALVES HAVING SLEEVE INSERTS

A butterfly valve having a valve body (12), a butterfly shaft (16), a butterfly plate (14), and a sleeve insert (32) is provided. The valve body is made of a first material and the sleeve insert is made of a second material. The butterfly rhaft is in the valve body for rotation about a first axis. The butterfly plate is in the valve body and secured to the butterfly shaft so that rotation of the butterfly shaft causes the butterfly plate to rotate about a second axis through a travel path between a closed position and an open position. The sleeve insert is in the valve body at least in a region of the travel path between the valve body and the butterfly plate.
