1298728 Rolling mills FRANCE ARMED FORCES MINISTER OF 26 March 1970 [27 March 1969] 15009/70 Heading B3M A rolling machine for reducing the wall thickness of a cylindrical blank 7 includes a number of rollers 13 surrounding the blank and supported in a fixed plate 2, the rollers being urged radially inwardly against abutments 17 fixed to the plate. The blank is carried on a rotatable mandrel 6 and is axially movable by means of a slidable supporting carriage 4. A tailstock 8 clamps the blank on the mandrel and is connected by tie rods 18 to the carriage. Each roller is freely mounted in a housing 10, Fig. 4, and is urged by an hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical jack 9 against a pair of abutments 17, Fig. 1. The abutments, which determine the rolled diameter of the blank, can be replaced by abutments of different size or be used with shims. The machine as a whole can be mounted on a mobile carriage, and only two rollers may be used, if so desired. |
