A fastener 10 comprises a head (14) and shank 12 around either of which a substantially uncured silicone resin 20 is provided to give an annular seal and a releasable lock between the fastener 10 and co-operating members 26, 28 when the resin is cured; Setting of the resin which may be a methyl phenyl silicone resin containing 1À4-1À7 methyl and phenyl radicals per silicone atom and may include a filler, catalyst, thixotrope, drying agent, and at least 60% by weight of an organic solvent may be accomplished by heating for 3-7 minutes at a temperature of not greater than 550‹ F. The resin may be applied either as an annular ring around the head or shank or as circumferentially spaced elements. |
