There is disclosed a protective apparel (5) comprising a knee pad or elbow pad comprising at least one illumination means (10). The illumination means (10) is provided between a rigid cover (3) and a padded means (20) securable around a body part by flexible means (15). The illuminatable means (10) and associated circuitry, including battery (36), and provided within the cover (30) between the cover (30) and the padded means (20). The cover is provided with a switch means (35) to control the illuminatable means (10). The illuminatable means (10) and switch means (35) are provided distal an apex of the cover (30). |
