PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buffer capable of being mounted on the front of a folding door without deteriorating the design of the folding door. SOLUTION: This buffer 100 comprises a buffer mechanism unit 111 which is fixed to the front of one door panel 11, and a buffer mechanism unit 121 which is fixed to the front of the other door panel 12. Each of the units 111 and 121 is equipped with a handle 113 for use in the opening and closing of the folding door 10, a fixing member 112 which is fixed to the front sides of the door panels 11 and 12 integrally with the handle 113, a damper which is held in the state of being housed in the fixing member 112, so as to be horizontally compressed and repel, and an abutting member 115 which is connected to a leading end of the damper. Just when the folding door 10 is closed, the abutting members 115 of the both the units 111 and 121 abut on each other, and both the abutting members 115 press each other along with the mutual turning of both the door panels 11 and 12 in the closing direction, so that dampers of both the units 111 and 121 can be simultaneously compressed, so that a resilient force generated by compression can act as a braking force on the folding door 10.
