摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight golf club shaft having high strength and high toughness.

SOLUTION: The steel golf club shaft assuming the shape of a hollow pipe has an inclined structure in which the distribution of the content of a thicknesswise retained austenite is increased toward the outside surface. The distribution and/or crystal grain size of the longitudinally retained austenite is adjusted to secure strength and toughness in a golf club shaft region to which a maximum stress is applied when the shaft is bent. This provides a steel golf club shaft aiming for being a thin-walled and lightweight type.
