PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous one-component coating agent which is superior in both of adhering property and solvent resistance, and is useful for various kinds of base materials, specially for plastic base materials, and to provide a coated article having a coated film formed by coating a plastic base material with this aqueous one-component coating agent, followed by drying. SOLUTION: The aqueous one-component coating agent comprises a water dispersion of a vinylic copolymer (X) formed by emulsion-polymerizing a vinylic monomer (a) containing cyclic aliphatic group, a vinylic monomer (b) containing aromatic group, a vinylic monomer (c) containing acid group and other vinylic monomers (d), in the presence of a chain transfer agent, and neutralizing the resulting emulsion with a basic compound.
