The device has an electric blower, particularly ozone generator (1) with two electrodes and a control unit (4). The electric blower is connected with the internal combustion engine in such a manner that flowing air is led into the combustion chamber by the electric blower. One electrode has a hollow cylinder form and the other electrode is arranged within the former electrode. The latter electrode contains multiple conductive electrode elements running in radial direction. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an internal combustion engine with a combustion chamber (2) a method for optimizing combustion in an internal combustion engine.
