The device has a master cylinder (3) that is hydraulically connected with a brake fluid circuit (8) that actuates wheel brakes (9) of a vehicle. A sensing piston (3a) shiftable by actuation of a brake pedal (1) develops a hydraulic pressure corresponding to switching condition of valves (5, 7) in a pressure force simulator (6) or in the brake fluid circuit. Transmission of movement of the brake pedal on the sensing pistons is formed in such a manner that a force (F) applied on the brake pedal causes a larger force on the sensing piston in case of trouble than in normal case.
