PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To engage a pinion with front/rear racks of a tray and left/right racks of a traverse movement member by riding on the both smoothly. SOLUTION: In an optical disk device 10 provided with a tray 14 moving reciprocally between an optical disk insertion/discharge position and an optical disk recording/reproducing position, a traverse mechanism 20 supporting a turntable 22 and an optical pickup 24 on a traverse space 21 and moving vertically between a rising position and a dropping position, a traverse movement member 29 moving reciprocally in the left and right direction being orthogonal to a movement direction of the tray 14 to move vertically the traverse mechanism 20, a pinion 36 engaging front/rear racks 14f of the tray 14 with left/right racks 29e of the traverse movement member 29 by riding on the both, In the pinion 36, a large diameter flat gear part 36a engaging with the front/rear racks 14f and a small diameter flat gear part 36b engaging with the left/right racks 29e are formed integrally and coaxially, while the respective number of teeth of the large diameter flat gear part 36 and the small diameter flat gear part 36b are same and modules of the both flat gear parts are made different.
