PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling a waveform equalization circuit, which enhances accuracy of adjustment results while shortening a search time. SOLUTION: For one value of a cutoff frequency, a gain, and a group delay amount, as an index for convergence when only three points are varied, wherein an initial value and prescribed search width around the initial value as the center are added, one of a jitter, an RF amplitude level, and an error rate of an output signal of the waveform equalization circuit is detected. With the cutoff frequency, the gain, or the group delay amount as a reference, in which one index of the minimum jitter value, the maximum RF amplitude level, and the minimum error rate is the optimum point, two slopes when connecting the reference value and two points excluding the reference point from among the three points are found. The cutoff frequency, the gain, or the group delay amount in which one of the jitter value, the RF amplitude level, and the error rate is the optimum, is set as an adjustment value of the waveform equalization circuit from a ratio of the two slopes.
