<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interleukin 12 production-promoting composition consisting essentially of an enzymically degraded composition of mycelia obtained by culturing a basidiomycete, and to provide an anticancer composition containing the composition. <P>SOLUTION: The interleukin 12 production-promoting composition is produced by steps of treating the mycelia or carpophores obtained by the culture of the basidiomycete, or a cultured liquid after culturing the mycelia with a carbohydrase, extracting the treated mycelia, carpophores or culture liquid after culturing the mycelia, with hot water, and fractionating the extract based on a molecular weight.
