<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive device capable of speeding up the movement speed of a driven member. <P>SOLUTION: The drive device has an actuator 10 having a drive shaft 2 fitted into a piezoelectric element 1, expands and contracts the piezoelectric element 1 by inputted drive signals, and moves the driven member 3 by reciprocating the drive shaft 2 in compliance with the expanding/contracting motions of the piezoelectric element 1. In the drive device, pulse signals are used as the drive signals, and out of the high output time and the low output time of the drive signals, the time equivalent to a half-wavelength of vibration attenuation displacement in the lowest resonance frequency of the actuator 10 is set as the shorter output time.
