The invention relates to a watercourse obstacle composed of adjacent partial elements in a natural or at least partly man-made water flow path. In order to prevent an athlete from getting an extremity or his/her piece of equipment caught in a gap, getting stuck there, and being pulled below the water surface, a device is provided for blocking access to at least one side of a slit-shaped gap in a watercourse obstacle that is composed of adjacent partial elements and is located in a natural or at least partly man-made water flow path, said slit-shaped gap being located between two adjacent partial elements while being oriented particularly in a vertical direction. The inventive device is embodied as a closing element which can be mounted on at least one of two adjacent partial elements and which closes the slit-shaped gap between said two partial elements in at least one subarea of the longitudinal extension of the slit-shaped gap. |
