PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diene polymer excellent in a balance between heat resistance and refractive index, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a polymer comprising units represented by formula (1), and to a method for producing the polymer. In the formula (1), Y<SP>1</SP>is an aryl; Y<SP>2</SP>is an aryl, H, a halogen atom, an alkyl, an aralkyl, silyl, siloxy, an alkoxy, an aralkyloxy, an aryloxy, amino, amide, imide, or a hydrocarbonthio; Y<SP>1</SP>and Y<SP>2</SP>may be bound to each other to form a ring; A<SP>1</SP>, A<SP>2</SP>, A<SP>3</SP>, A<SP>4</SP>, A<SP>5</SP>, A<SP>6</SP>, A<SP>7</SP>, A<SP>8</SP>, A<SP>9</SP>, and A<SP>10</SP>are each independently H, a halogen atom, an alkyl, an aralkyl, an aryl, silyl, siloxy, an alkoxy, an aralkyloxy, an aryloxy, amino, amide, imide or a hydrocarbonthio; (m) is 0 or 1; (n) is an integer of 1 to 20.
