PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a cover glass can be reliably cleaned even when an unexpectedly large number of foreign substances (toner and dust) that vary in particle size and shape adhere to the cover glass. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive drum 1 carrying a toner image, an optical unit 3 provided below the photosensitive drum 1 and including a cover glass 31 for transmitting light emitted toward the photosensitive drum 1, and a cleaning member 20 configured to clean a surface of the cover glass 31. The cleaning member 20 includes a cleaning sheet 26 configured to move foreign substances on the surface of the cover glass 31, and a wiping member 27 configured to wipe the foreign substances on the surface of the cover glass 31. The cleaning sheet 26 and the wiping member 27 move in contact with the surface of the cover glass 31 when the cleaning member 20 cleans the surface of the cover glass 31. The wiping member 27 moves in contact with a portion of the surface of the cover glass 31 after the cleaning sheet 26 moves in contact with the portion. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
