The method involves drilling a hole of a diameter of 6 millimeters in mains connection lines by a compressed air drilling machine that is remote from a connection of a supply line. A foaming plug is formed by foam applied in the connection lines through the hole, and the hole is sealed by the plug. The connection lines are separated by a tube cutter, and an end cap is welded to ends of the connection lines. Foam amount is co-coordinated with a respective tube diameter of the mains connection lines to prevent reaching of the foam into the supply line.
