ORGANIC LIGHT EMITTING DISPLAY APPARATUS AND METHOD OF DRIVING THE APPARATUS

An OLED device and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce power consumption by maintaining driving voltage margins according to a driving voltage in a saturation area corresponding to varied brightness. An OLED(Organic Light Emitting Display) device includes an illuminance detector(110), a brightness determiner(120), a driving voltage determiner(130), a voltage converter(140), and a display unit(160). The illuminance detector detects external illuminance. The brightness determiner determines brightness of the OLED device according to the illuminance measured in the illuminance detector. The driving voltage determiner determines a driving voltage of a saturation area according to a driving current corresponding to the determined brightness. The voltage converter generates a first voltage higher than an input voltage and a second voltage lower than the input voltage in order to supply the driving voltage from the driving voltage determiner. The display unit displays images by receiving voltages from the voltage converter.
