PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film polarizing plate having a reduced retardation suitable for use for protecting a polarizer and suitable as an optical film having excellent toughness. SOLUTION: The film comprises an amorphous thermoplastic resin having≥120°C glass transition temperature (Tg), simultaneously satisfies the following conditions (i), (ii), (iii) and (iv) and has 10 to 200μm thickness. (i) The film has≤10 nm in-plane retardation (Ret) to light having 550 nm wavelength and≤10 nm retardation (Rth) in the film thickness direction to light having 590 nm wavelength. (ii) The film has≥500 times in folding endurance test in both MD and TD directions according to the MIT test method when a flowing direction and a width direction of the film are defined as MD and TD, respectively. (iii) The film has an orientation ratio of the direction MD to the direction TD of 0.90 to 1.10. (iv) The film has≥90% total ray transmittance and≤1.0% haze value. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
