A system and a method for providing short-range information and a mobile terminal therefor are provided to search a short-range wireless transmission/reception module storing information including a particular key word within an information collection range and receive corresponding information from the searched short-range wireless transmission/reception module. When short-range information request conditions including a key word and information collection range information are set by a wired/wireless terminal, a short-range information providing server(500) requests collecting of information matched to the key word from a plurality of mobile terminals(100,200-a,200-b) located within the information collection range, and transmits information matched to the key word received from the plurality of mobile terminals to the corresponding wired/wireless terminal. When the mobile terminals receive the information collecting request, they receive short-range information from a short-range transmission/reception module mounted in each object, compare the received information and the key word, and transmit short-range information matched to the key word to the short-range information providing server.
