PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal medium and a liquid crystal display with excellent characteristics. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal medium contains a component A, which is dielectrically neutral and contains one or more kinds of compound with neutral dielectricity selected from the group consisting of chemicals represented by formulae I and II, and a component B, which is dielectrically positive and contains one or more kinds of specific compound with positive dielectricity.
