PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a damage of a head element part or a magnetic disk in determining a heater power value for adjusting a clearance between the head element part and the magnetic disk. SOLUTION: An HDC/MPU 23 sequentially increases heater power to write and read data. Moreover, the HDC/MPU 23 determines whether a head slider 12 has read the data precisely.
