<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the starting time of an image forming apparatus by shortening a period of time from the power-on of the apparatus up to the start of heating of a fixing unit. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 for fixing a developer image transferred to a paper sheet by means of heating and pressurization includes: a fixing unit 25 for fixing the developer image transferred onto the paper; and an engine control part 112 for executing control of respective parts included in the image forming apparatus 1 and diagnosis at the time of start. The engine control part 112 executes diagnosis of parts relating to operation of the fixing unit, out of respective parts included in the image forming apparatus in preference to diagnosis of the other parts, and starts the fixing unit 25 when diagnosis of parts relating to operation of the fixing unit 25 is terminated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
