<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalyst capable of satisfactorily exhibiting both of a photocatalytic function and electric conductivity. <P>SOLUTION: The photocatalyst consists of, for example, an ITO thin film 3 containing an oxide composed of indium, tin and oxygen, for example, ITO (or a combination of ITO with IZO or AZO). A method for decomposing organic matter comprises a step of irradiating the photocatalyst with the short-wavelength light 5 having the wavelength shorter than that of near ultraviolet light to decompose the organic matter existing on the surface of the photocatalyst. The photocatalyst can be used for removing/cleaning organic contaminants and has the electric conductivity comparatively higher than that of the conventional photocatalyst (TiO<SB>2</SB>or the like) having electric non-conductance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
