PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device control apparatus capable of performing, without contact, all control operations to a device to be controlled while including not only operations for merely turning on/off but also other control operations. SOLUTION: A device control apparatus 1 is configured by comprising a light emitter 12 and light receivers 13, 14 and disposing the light emitter 12 and the light receivers 13, 14 so as not to receive light emitted from the light emitter 12 by the light receivers 13, 14 when the palm 9 of a person does not approach the light receivers 13, 14, but to reflect the light emitted from the light emitter 12 on the palm 9 approaching the light receivers and to be received by the light receiver 13 or 14 when the palm 9 of the person approaches the light receivers 13, 14. A device 2 to be controlled is controlled by the device control apparatus 1 in accordance with a pattern of a temporal variation about the presence/absence of light reception generated in the light receivers 13, 14 through the approach of the palm 9 to the light receiver 13 or 14 or by the approach of the palm 9 sequentially performed for the light receivers 13 and 14.
