PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost by more simplifying the configuration of a drive circuit section in a capacity coupling type liquid crystal display device, and to provide a drive method therefor. SOLUTION: Only one value is used as a bias potential value. Hence, an output potential from a driving IC 30Y to a scan line 11 (potential of a flat part of a pulse waveform) has only three values, which are ON potential "VgON" and OFF potential "VgOff" of TFT and one bias potential "Vge". Furthermore, the OFF potential VgOFF is obtained, by making an electric connection with a ground wiring of the driving IC 30Y. Thus, the drive IC 30Y, an IC is usable generating only two kinds of output values inside and having simple configurations.
