PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overhead wire wrapping apparatus with a simple and compact structure capable of preventing the drop of rust during replacing an earth wire and of reinforcing the earth wire by surely covering the existing overhead wire with a cover member when the existing overhead wire is removed or replaced, and an overhead wire wrapping method therewith.

SOLUTION: This overhead wire wrapping apparatus includes an apparatus body movably along the overhead wire. The apparatus body includes: a roller unit having a plurality of rollers; reels wound by the tape-shaped cover member; and a resiliently installed mechanism for energizing the plurality of facing rollers so as to be arranged close to each other. The roller unit is formed by arranging first rollers and second rollers in turn from the front in the travelling direction of the apparatus body in relation to the overhead wire. The first rollers and the second rollers sandwich the overhead wire by the resiliently installed mechanism and are rotatable while abutting the overhead wire. The cover member is bondable to the mating surface of the cover member unreeled from the other facing reel. A plurality of second rollers are provided along the overhead wire.
