<PICT:0905191/IV (b)/1> <PICT:0905191/IV (b)/2> A pressure sealing device at the inlet or outlet point of a high pressure steamer for treating webs of fabric, in a continuous process involving the passage of a web of fabric between two rotatably mounted sealing rollers under clamping pressure, comprises an attachment of nozzle-like construction having a slit passage close to the rollers and provided with sealing lips or the like which co-operate with the rollers, and are so located that the sealing lines lie along mutually facing circular sectors of the rotatable sealing rollers. In the arrangement shown the inlet (or outlet) of steamer 1 is provided with a housing 3 housing a pressure sealing device. The latter consists of two sealing rollers 4, 5, the roller 4 being mounted on arms 6 and pressed into contact with roller 5 by piston 10 in cylinder 11. At the ends of rollers 4, 5 are located plates 14 which are urged into contact with the roller ends and with a seal 17 on the attachment 13, by piston 15 in cylinder 16. The attachment 13 is situated below the nip of the rollers 4 and 5 and is of nozzle-like construction with a slit passage for the fabric. It is provided with resilient sealing lips 18 which lie above supports 19, there being a pressure tube 20 provided between the lips 18 and the support 19 so as to press the lips on to the rollers. Cooling rollers 29 and scrapers 30 are provided for each roller 4 and 5. The pressure tube 20 may be positioned below the support 19 and the lips may be in the form of rollers. In a further embodiment the entire attachment 13 extends up to the rollers 4, 5 and is rockable, there being pressure plates in contact with the rollers. |
