摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new enzyme for reducing 3-quinuclidinone stereo-selectively to (R)-3-quinuclidinol. <P>SOLUTION: The enzyme having a biochemical properties shown by the following (1) to (3) is provided. (1) To produce (R)-3-quinuclidinol by asymmetrically reducing the 3-quinuclidinone or its salt by using a reduced type nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) as a coenzyme; (2) Substrate specificity; It acts on quinuclidinone, p-toluquinone and &alpha;-naphthoquinone, and its relative activity is higher in the order of 3-quinuclidinone, p-toluquinone and &alpha;-naphtoquinone; and (3) Optimum temperature; In the case of reacting at pH7, the action is optimum at the temperatures of 40 to 45&deg;C. The enzyme may include a specific amino acid sequence or its modified sequences.
