PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To engrave lines on a chiselled curved surface with texture by machining. SOLUTION: A machining apparatus comprises an inclination angle computation part 104 for computing an inclination angle between a tool axis of a pneumatic oscillating chisel tool and a normal to the surface of a workpiece at the contact point between a bit tool of the pneumatic oscillating chisel tool and the surface of the workpiece during machining, from machining pattern data on a machining pattern including groove depth information stored in a tool path data storage part 101, surface shape data on the surface of the workpiece stored in a workpiece shape data storage part 102, and bit shape data on the bit tool of the pneumatic oscillating chisel tool stored in a tool shape data storage part 103, and a tool attitude control part 105 for controlling the attitude when the bit tool of the pneumatic oscillating chisel tool is in contact with the surface of the workpiece according to the computed inclination angle. The oscillating bit tool provides impacts while controlling the attitude of the pneumatic oscillating chisel tool by the tool attitude control part 105 to form the pattern represented by the machining pattern data.
