PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch which has an optical deflecting element capable of having a large angle of deflection, even if the applied voltage is the same as before, and can be made large in scale. SOLUTION: The optical switch is such that a normal to a light output end surface of an input-side optical deflecting element is parallel to an optical waveuigde layer of the input-side optical deflecting element and is tilted to with respect the optical axis of the input-side optical deflecting element, and a normal to a light input end surface of an output-side optical deflecting element is parallel to an optical waveguide layer of the output-side optical deflecting element and is tilted to the optical axis of the output-side optical deflecting element. When the light-input end surface is thus tilted, the angle of deflection of signal light is emphasized. Hence, the angle of deflection becomes larger, even if the applied voltage is the same as that in conventional type and the optical switch enlargement in scale is facilitated.
