The method involves clamping ends (6, 7) of a blanket (2) by a clamping spindle (16). An end section (8) is gripped and released by the clamping spindle during rotation of the clamping spindle, and the end section is released by the clamping spindle during the rotation of the clamping spindle. The end section is held in a prestressed-position after being released by the clamping spindle within a hollow space, where the end section intervenes into the pre-stressed position in an offset of the hollow space.
