PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit deterioration of emissions when starting an internal combustion engine provided with a supercharger. SOLUTION: An engine 200 includes a compressor 217b driven by an assist motor 217c. ECU 100 executes start control process in start of the engine 200. During the process, the ECU 100 opens an EGR valve 220 controlling communication condition between an exhaust valve 211 and an intake passage 221, and closes an intake throttle valve 223 provided in the intake passage 211. Under this condition, the ECU 100 controls a MAT controller 218 to operate the compressor 217a, and circulates remaining gas containing unburned HC residing near a turbine 217c in the exhaust pipe 221 via an EGR pipe 219. The ECU 100 executes fuel injection and ignition of air fuel mixture to start the engine 200 after circulating the gas. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
