PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve mechanism for an internal combustion engine capable of lubricating with a reduced amount of lubricating oil and suppressing the occurrence of a transmission error in displacement of a cam. SOLUTION: The variable valve mechanism 50 is equipped with the cam 51a formed on a camshaft 51, an oscillating cam 64 for driving a rocker arm 61 by receiving displacement of the cam 51a, and a center rocker arm 62 for varying the lift characteristic of an intake valve 19a by displacing its attitude. The oscillating cam 64 is equipped with a second sliding roller member 90 for coming in contact with the center rocker arm 62 in a transmission path X for transmitting the displacement of the cam 51a to the oscillating cam 64, and a guide part 201 for restricting relative displacement of the oscillating cam 64 and the center rocker arm 62 toward the axial direction of a rotary shaft of the second sliding roller member 90.
