A cable broadcasting system and a message transmitting method thereof are provided to store user information according to the user type, thereby selectively transmitting a message to transmit according to an individual user or a user of a specific type quickly accurately. A message transmitting method for a cable broadcasting system comprises the following steps of: storing received user information and message information in a user information memory and a message information memory(S11); selecting a message to be transmitted from messages stored in the message information memory and selecting a user or a user group to transmit the message from the user information memory(S12); enabling a message encoding unit to encod the selected message according to the control signal of a control unit, include the identification information of the user into the encoded message, and process the encoded message(S13); and transmitting the message including the user identification information to a user(S14).
