PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing automatic disappearance of image data while securing the free capacity of an accumulation means. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the accumulation means for accumulating image data; a storage means for storing the accumulated image data in relation with a destination on a network to which the image data are to be transmitted; a transmitting/receiving means for judging whether a fixed period has elapsed from the accumulation of the accumulated image data or not, and when judging that the fixed period has elapsed, transmitting the image data to the related destination on the basis of the storage means; and an erasing means for erasing the image data transmitted to the destination from the accumulation means.
