PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve gear of an internal combustion engine in which a variable valve gear modularized while involving a camshaft is compactly installed in a cylinder head. SOLUTION: In this valve gear, the variable valve gear 4 is modularized by providing the camshaft 15 having a cam for each cylinder, a variable valve mechanism 13 supporting the cams and continuously variably controlling the valve characteristics, and holding members 11a-11c holding the camshaft 15 and the variable valve mechanism 13. The modularized variable valve gear 4 is installed in a recessed part 1z recessed to the cylinder side of a cylinder head 1 through holding members 11a-11c. Consequently, the variable valve gear 4 modularized while involving the camshaft 15 can be installed on the cylinder head 1 while suppressing the height dimensions. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
