PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine capable of preventing the presence or absence of the abnormality of a turbo supercharger from being erroneously diagnosed. SOLUTION: This control device is applied to an internal combustion engine 1 having a low-pressure EGR passage 11 and a high-pressure EGR passage 12. An ECU 20 selectively changes an EGR mode between an LPL mode for recirculating an exhaust gas through only the low-pressure EGR passage 11, an HPL mode for recirculating the exhaust gas through only the high-pressure EGR passage 12, and an MPL mode for recirculating the exhaust gas through both EGR passages 11, 12 according to the operating state of the internal combustion engine 1, and based on the target supercharging pressure set according to the operating state of the internal combustion engine 1 and the supercharging pressure of the internal combustion engine 1, diagnoses the presence or absence of the abnormality of the turbo supercharger 7. A diagnosis prohibiting period in which the diagnosis of the presence or absence of the abnormality of the turbo supercharger 7 after changing the EGR mode is prohibited is provided.
