The invention relates to engine-building engineering. The inventive axial piston engine comprises a body, diametrically opposite cylinders which are arranged in pairs and each of which is provided with two opposing pistons, a main shaft with two oppositely-tilted discs, which are mounted thereon and on the outer surface of which three-dimensionally swinging washers are arranged via bearings, cylinder heads with inlet valves and return valves placed on a boost air path, an air grease skimming tank, a compressor, the intake and exhaust valves of the cylinder working part and nozzles. One three-dimensionally swinging washer provided with journals is assigned to each pair of cylinders. The pistons are provided with rods which are rigidly fixed thereto, have supporting pistons displaceable in guiding cylinders and transmit effort to the oppositely-tilted discs and to the main shaft via articulation joints supported by the journals of the three-dimensionally swinging washers. The compressor is used for the starting pre-filling of the grease skimming tank with compressed air and for increasing a pressure during operation, thereby making it possible to modify the compression rate and the engine power, respectively. Said invention makes it possible to increase the reliability and the performance factor and to modify the compression rate during the operation of axial piston engines.
