<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein when reproducing an encrypted multiplexed stream, data size of multimedia data obtained by decoding for each encryption unit is unequal, it is difficult to efficiently utilize a buffer secured, beforehand, particularly in a stream recorded in a very poor radio wave environment, decoding of a specific kind of multimedia data may at times fail continuously, and the effect thereof is conspicuous. <P>SOLUTION: In a packet parser 1, an encrypted multiplexed stream is decrypted and demultiplexed into audio/video by a demultiplexer 2, and results of decoding due to an audio decoder 3a and a video decoder 3b are stored in one common buffer 4. When free space becomes smaller than prescribed value X bytes, a buffer manager 5 selectively deletes the multimedia data of phase with high occupancy quantity and of poor quality.
