<p>An apparatus and a method for realizing flow control based on rate restrict for MSTP device implement flow monitoring to the input or output data flow mainly by use of Policing module, and transmit flow control signal to the distant end device when the data flow capacity exceeds the flow control threshold, decrease the input data flow capacity, so as to avoid the packet loss due to the rate restrict in the present device. By implementing flow control to the output data, with the aid of the marking function for service flow, the flow control function for Ethernet layer 2 pause frame port and the flow control for the particular service on layer 3 in Ethernet can be realized, and the service damage caused by output queue congestion is prevented. The invention can ensure the undamaged transmission for the packet-based service data flow in network, provide the detection and report for service bandwidth, and satisfy the flow capacity control requirement for the particular service when Ethernet service is transported on the MSTP transmission device.</p> |
