<p>Disclosed is a method for producing an optical laminate having a coating film comprising a lyotropic liquid crystal compound, which can make the coating film approximately uniform in thickness. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing an optical laminate comprising a base material and a coating film. The method comprises the step of applying a solution containing at least one lyotropic liquid crystal compound on the base material to form a coating film, wherein the concentration of the lyotropic liquid crystal compound in the solution is lower than the (isotropic phase)-(liquid crystal phase) transition concentration. Preferably,the concentration of the lyotropic liquid crystal compound in the solution is (C<SUB>IN</SUB>-18) mass% to (C<SUB>IN</SUB>-1) mass%, wherein C<SUB>IN</SUB> represents the (isotropic phase)-(liquid crystal phase) transition concentration.</p> |
