PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for machining bearing housing comprises a bearing housing which is designed to be totally machined while being located and retained in a single machining center, thus eliminating multiple machines and machine set-ups for the machining of the bearing housing. CONSTITUTION: A scroll machine comprises a shell(12) which houses a first scroll member(56), a second scroll member(68), a driving member and a bearing housing(26). A bearing housing blank is located axially within a chuck. The bearing housing blank is clamped in the chuck. All machining operations on the bearing housing blank is performed while clamping the bearing housing blank in the chuck to produce the bearing housing. |
