FIELD: engines and pumps. ^ SUBSTANCE: device is designed to be used in nuclear power engineering for turning an object. The suspended automatic turning and gripping device comprises a solid cylinder with key slots and a cylindrical middle sleeve rigidly attached to the said cylinder and furnished with two symmetrically arranged inclined contact surface slots. The middle sleeve incorporates the pins arranged at a maximum possible distance from the axis of rotation and bayonet slots in the cylindrical part coupled with the stick plug cylindrical surface, the stick plug pins moving in the said slots. The cylindrical casing features latches keyed to it intended for fitting into bayonet slots and a cylindrical guide surface. The cover is rigidly attached to the casing to limit the cylinder travel. The device exploits the cylinder gravity and a wedge effect of interaction of the sleeve inclined surfaces with the said two symmetrically arranged inclined contact surface slots to allow the object turning around its vertical axis and its gripping by means of the middle sleeve bayonet slots. ^ EFFECT: simpler stick plug turning and gripping. ^ 5 dwg
