A coil tubing shear includes a housing having a coil tubing input and a coil tubing output. An adapter is provided for mounting the housing to a coil tubing injector. The adapter connects the coil tubing input to an output of the coil tubing injector such that the housing is supported by the output of the coil tubing injector. A support block is positioned between the coil tubing input and the coil tubing output for supporting coil tubing to be sheared. An actuated blade is provided for shearing the coil tubing that is supported by the support block.
