<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain heating of a first area which is hard to be cooled, and restrain damage of an electrolyte layer at the first area. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell is provided with a plurality of separators and a plurality of power generating bodies. Each separator has a reaction gas flow channel formed so as to pass inside and open to its surface for flowing the reaction gas. The power generating bodies, alternately laminated with the separators, are each provided with an electrolyte layer at a first area overlapping with the reaction gas flow channel of the separator in a lamination direction and a second area not overlapping the reaction gas flow channel in a lamination direction, a first electrode layer containing a catalyst component and arranged at one side of the electrolyte layer, and a second electrode layer containing a catalyst component and arranged at the other side of the electrolyte layer.
