<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein, in the case of a conventional luminaire, an emergency lamp is needed separately from the luminaire in order to continue lighting for a certain period after tuning off a switch, and a battery for a power source different from that of the luminaire and a timer are necessary for the emergency lamp, whereby facility expense becomes expensive in a small-scale individual illumination. <P>SOLUTION: In this invention, time-limited lighting in turning off a luminaire and time-limited lighting in a power failure are allowed without remodeling the luminaire 7 by incorporating, in an external appliance of the luminaire 7, a power supply circuit 12 supplying power to the luminaire 7 from a charged capacitor 6 of the power supply circuit 12 after operation of a switch 2 or a power failure.
