A display substrate and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to align an upper substrate and a lower substrate with each other efficiently by forming alignment keys respectively penetrating the upper substrate and the lower substrate. A first substrate(110) has an active area(AA) and a non-active area(NA) around the active area. A display part is formed in the active area. A first alignment key(160a) is formed in the non-active area. The first alignment key consists of a hole pattern penetrating the first substrate. A second substrate(120) is disposed oppositely to the first substrate. A second alignment key(160b) is formed on the second substrate. The second alignment key is aligned with the first alignment key. The display part includes a gate line with a gate electrode(111) formed on the first substrate, a gate-insulating layer(112) covering the gate line, a semiconductor layer(114) formed on the gate-insulating layer correspondingly to the gate electrode, and a data line formed on the gate-insulating layer across the gate line to define a pixel region. The data line includes a source electrode(115) contacted with one side of the semiconductor layer and a drain electrode(116) contacted with the other side of the semiconductor layer. The display part further includes a pixel electrode(119) electrically connected to the drain electrode within the pixel region. A color filter pattern(123)is formed on the second substrate correspondingly to the pixel region. A light-shielding layer(121) is formed on the second substrate correspondingly to a boundary of the pixel region. A common electrode layer(125) is formed above the second substrate to generate an electric field together with the pixel electrode. |
